Health Alert – Queensland Health has posted about the recent impact of smoke from bushfires affecting air quality in Brisbane and surrounding areas.

As per Queensland Health guidelines, Eve Health advises our patients to limit time spent outdoors where possible if smoke or dust is in the air. If you suffer any respiratory symptoms please seek advice from your GP.

Our thoughts are with those affected by these fires and emergency services working hard to keep everyone safe.

This week is #PANDA week. Perinatal anxiety and depression is a serious and common illness. Up to 1 in 5 expecting or new mothers and 1 in 10 expecting or new fathers will experience it.

Today, we heard from Rachel Thaiday who bravely and honestly opened up about her postnatal journey. This was presented by Belmont Private Hospital at a high tea event 'Empowered Women’ with Rachel.

What an inspiration! Congratulations to Rachel and Belmont for shining a light on depression and empowering us to have brave and difficult conversations.

We encourage you to check in on your friends, family and especially new parents and then check in again. If you are feeling overwhelmed and not coping there is help - you can phone an Eve midwife, see your GP, contact Belmont Private Hospital or turn to a friend.

Dr Michael Wynn-Williams and Physiotherapist Alexandra Diggles attended the recent Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopy & Surgery Society Limited - AGES conference in Sydney.

Speakers from around the world presented on the topic 'How to Truly Make A Difference' to women everywhere who suffer from gynaecological issues, using different gynaecology therapies and treatments.

We are very lucky that our Eve specialists feel so strongly about women's health and wellbeing; who encourage women to participate in their own wellbeing and seek help.

Michael is on the AGES board of directors, while Alexandra is a previously invited event speaker.
