IVF Brisbane: what you want to know before you start
Looking up “IVF Brisbane” is rarely anyone’s first move. If you’re here, it may be after months or years of trying, disappointment, or loss. Maybe you have experienced failed cycles, or you are simply exhausted from waiting. It takes real strength to keep searching and hoping for answers, especially when the process feels so private and few people understand what it costs you, day to day.
More than just fertility; care for your whole story
Many people know Eve Health for our work in obstetrics and gynaecology. Fertility care is also a key part of what we offer, and we bring the same level of experience and attention to this area as we do to all women’s health.

We believe that looking after women’s health means seeing the whole picture, from early reproductive health to fertility care, pregnancy, and beyond. Your story is more than a medical file; it includes your emotions, your hopes, and your fears.
We take the time to hear what you have been through. We know it can be tiring to tell your story again and again, and that it takes courage to keep looking for answers. We focus on being honest, kind, and helping you find a path that fits your needs. IVF is one of several options we offer. There is no single approach that works for everyone.
What to expect if you’re thinking about IVF
Everyone is welcome at Eve Health. We care for people from all backgrounds, identities, and walks of life.
First conversations
We start by hearing your story. What has happened before? What matters to you? What are you hoping for now? You can take your time and ask whatever you need. We want to understand what you have already tried, what worked, what did not, and how you are feeling about the next steps.
Looking at your health
We look at your overall health, and your partner’s health. This may include blood tests, checking hormones, scans, and other fertility investigations. The goal is to understand the big picture, not just tick off a list.

Your options
There are usually several ways to move forward. IVF might be one option, but not always the first or only one. We talk through all the fertility treatments that might suit your situation, using plain language, and give you time to ask anything. You will never be pressured or rushed to make a decision on the spot.
If IVF is your path; what happens next
If IVF turns out to be the best fertility treatment option for you, here is what is usually involved. Everyone’s plan is a little bit different, but these are the main steps:
Step 1: Stimulation
You will usually take medicines for about 10 to 14 days. These help your ovaries grow more eggs than they would in a natural cycle. Most people need to come in for several quick check-ups during this time, where we use blood tests and gentle ultrasounds to see how your eggs are developing. This stage can sometimes feel intense, but you are not alone; our team will explain everything as you go.
To help make things clearer and reduce stress, Eve Health has partnered with CHARLI, a secure fertility tracking app. This tool gives you an easy, visual to-do list for your cycle, so you do not have to worry about missing a step or doing something wrong. The app is set up together with your Eve Health fertility specialist, and helps you feel more confident about what needs to be done each day.
Step 2: Egg collection
When the time is right, you will come into hospital for a short procedure. This is done under light anaesthetic, so you will be comfortable and feel no pain. The fertility doctor collects your eggs using a very thin needle; most people go home later the same day.
Step 3: Fertilisation & embryo development
In the lab, your eggs are combined with sperm. Not every egg may fertilise, but if one or more embryos develop, they will be checked every day to see how they are growing. The waiting at this stage can be stressful, and it is very normal to feel anxious or hopeful, or a mix of both.
Step 4: Embryo transfer
If your embryos grow as expected, one or more may reach what is called the blastocyst stage, usually about five days after egg collection. This is when the embryo is ready to be placed into your uterus in a simple procedure. You can have a support person with you if you want. Any other good quality embryos can be frozen for future use, depending on your plan.
Step 5: The waiting period
After embryo transfer, there is a waiting period of about two weeks before a pregnancy test. Many people describe this as the hardest part, because it is out of your hands. We understand that the wait can feel long; you can always reach out to us during this time with questions or worries.
Throughout the whole process, we will keep you informed and answer every question you have. You will never be left wondering what is happening or what comes next. Every journey is unique, and we make sure you feel supported, whatever your outcome.
Partnering with Monash IVF for procedures
We also understand that the practical side of treatment matters, especially when life already feels busy or stressful. Monash IVF, the fertility clinic where our fertility specialists carry out IVF procedures, shares the same building and is only a short walk away. This means any Monash-related appointments are close by, which can make things less stressful on important days. We also have onsite blood collection, so you do not need to travel for extra tests.
In-house expertise
Our team brings together different specialists to support you fully. We have fertility doctors, nurses, general practitioners and who all work together for a holistic approach. Two of our fertility specialists also hold the CREI accreditation, showing advanced training in fertility and reproductive endocrinology.
You do not have to go through this alone
The emotional toll of IVF and fertility treatment is real, and it is often invisible to the people around you. It can affect your relationships, work, and your sense of self. Many people feel isolated, or worry that they should just “cope” or “stay positive.” But you do not have to carry this alone. If you want, we can help connect you with counsellors, support groups, or just offer a safe space to share what’s really going on.
It can also be helpful to keep track of your cycle, symptoms, and feelings over time. CHARLI is a free, simple tool designed for this; created by the founders of Eve Health. Many people use CHARLI to log their symptoms and cycles, which can be really useful to bring to your appointments and support conversations with your care team.
