Cervical Screening and Colposcopy

Back

Australia has a modern and effective National Cervical Screening Program that is designed to detect changes in the cervix before they become cancerous.

If you are over 25 and have had a Cervical Screening Test (CST) since 1st December 2017 and the results were normal, you will not need another test for five years unless you have symptoms like bleeding with sex or between periods. If the test results were abnormal, your GP will refer you to a gynaecologist for further testing with colposcopy.

Eve Health gynaecologists are very experienced at assessing the cervix and our clinic has modern facilities and equipment for performing colposcopy (close examination of the cervix under magnification) and cervical biopsy. Sometimes no further treatment is needed, but you may require a simple procedure called a LLETZ. More information on LLETZ is available here.
